Guidelight program options for Aetna members

At Guidelight, we’re here for when you need more support than what you can receive solely from regular outpatient therapy.

Through evidence-based practices, we’ll help you build skills that support your mental health both during your time with us and well into the future

Here are the three programs that we offer Aetna members in Colorado:

  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The next level of support above regular outpatient therapy sessions is an Intensive Outpatient Program. An IOP gives you the opportunity to prioritize your mental health while still maintaining as much of your daily routines as possible. By balancing treatment with your everyday responsibilities, you can incorporate your new skills quickly into your day-to-day functioning.

Our IOP takes place over the course of six weeks. It involves three days of programming with at least three hours per day.

  • Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (vIOP)

While IOPs are designed to be flexible, we know it’s not always easy to make it to in-person treatment multiple times a week. That’s why we also offer a virtual option of our IOP for adults.

You can receive the same evidence-based treatment, with the same effective curriculum, completely online with our virtual IOP option. We even offer daytime or evening options to work around your availability as much as possible. Our vIOP uses a HIPAA-compliant, secure platform to provide you with safe and private access to our care.

With three to four hours of programming a day, three days a week, you’ll receive personalized treatment that fits your circumstances.

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

It’s possible that you need a higher level of support than an IOP to manage your symptoms, and that’s OK. Our PHP provides additional structured support for those who need an acute level of care. It enables you to focus on improving your mental health during the day while still returning home at night.

A PHP is an option for Guidelight clients who require highly specialized intensive care but don’t need 24/7 supervision. It provides comprehensive care while still allowing you to maintain a sense of normalcy and independence.

Our PHP requires a commitment of 25 hours a week (five hours every weekday). It’s a two-week treatment.

Together, we can discuss which treatment option would work best for you based on:

  • The severity of your symptoms
  • Your availability and life circumstances
  • Your mental health goals
  • Past treatments and medical history

How Guidelight can help you

Our IOP, vIOP and PHP combine individual and group sessions. We use evidence-based approaches during sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and trauma-informed therapy. Our goals are to help you navigate challenges that contribute to your symptoms and learn strategies that help you manage them to improve your overall well-being.

We also provide medication management if needed to ensure that you’re taking the safest and most effective options for your symptoms. We’ll work with your other providers to make adjustments when necessary. Proper medication management aims to minimize side effects and support your treatment goals.

Your treatment plan may also incorporate:

  • Family therapy when needed
  • Psychoeducation to deepen your understanding of your condition
  • Holistic approaches, such as art therapy or mindfulness
  • Support for transition to lower levels of care

We ensure that you feel supported by peers who can relate to your experiences as well as by the clinicians who will be by your side as you work toward becoming the best version of yourself. By approaching your mental health conditions from every angle, you’ll be able to get to the heart of your challenges and discover tools that can help you thrive.
